Six Pointed Star Earrings

Built as a three-dimensional six-pointed star, each earring projects from the ear rather than lying flat, a sculptural take on a simple geometric form. The dimensional star shows Spratling treating jewelry as small sculpture, form carried by volume rather than by applied ornament.

The pair belongs to the first design period, 1931-1946, when the workshop established its vocabulary of bold, handwrought silver. Reduced to pure geometry, the design relies entirely on the play of light across its faceted points.
