Ebony Leg Salt Dish

A small silver salt dish raised on three ebony legs - the dark wood lifting the bowl and contrasting with the silver in the manner Morrill associates with Spratling's combining of materials (p. 224). It was also made in a slightly larger 1 1/2-by-2-inch size, a graded pair rather than a single form.

The dish is documented through the workshop's catalogues, wholesaling at $5.20 in 1961 and $6.40 by 1967, which places it in the later years of production.
