A wide silver band carrying three distinct designs, each separated by a row of circles, this ring treats the band as a small frieze, three motifs read in sequence around the finger. The repeated circle as a dividing device belongs to the surface vocabulary Spratling favored, the dot and circle motifs Morrill notes recurring across his work (Morrill, Mexican Silver, 1994, p. 73).
A wide band given over to graphic pattern, rather than a stone, reflects the workshop's confidence in worked silver as ornament in its own right. The design appears only in Spratling's pre-1958 catalog, placing it within his earlier and middle production.
