Among the numbered designs that organized Margot de Taxco's production, 5189 occupies the upper end of the sequence — a placement that, per Morrill, signals later output, since smaller numbers designate earlier work. Pendant necklaces were central to the studio's enamel-on-silver program, and Morrill describes the work across that line as combining "elegance of line and sensuality of color" with technical exactitude (Mexican Silver, 1994, p. 166).

The reverse carries the full "Margot de Taxco Sterling" mark alongside Eagle 22, the Mexican government's assay designation for sterling. The pendant runs just under two inches across on a 17½-inch chain — a compact, finished scale suited to the studio's jewelry for retail and collector markets alike.
