Curatorial note

Six integral triangle forms worked into the band give this early silver cuff its rhythm, a repeating geometric statement carried around the wrist. The triangles are part of the cuff itself rather than applied, so the design reads as a single worked sheet of silver shaped into a row of faceted units.

The piece belongs to Spratling's first design period, when the Taxco workshop was establishing the geometric vocabulary that would define Mexican modern silver. The repeated triangle is one of those pure architectural shapes, and integral construction gives the cuff a clean, unbroken surface.

Early geometric cuffs of this kind come to market only occasionally and reward attention to how the repeating form is worked into the band rather than added to it.
