Curatorial note

A martini pitcher built around a large pouring lip and a strap handle, with a single applied silver circle set on either side of the body as its only ornament. The restraint is deliberate; the applied disc reads as a punctuation mark on an otherwise plain raised surface.

Bar and table holloware of this kind extended Spratling's Taxco workshop beyond jewelry into the dining room, where his geometry-led forms found a domestic market. The applied-circle motif recurs across the maker's hollowware as a simple, repeatable accent.

The pitcher is recorded in Goddard's Spratling Silver: A Field Guide.
