Rosewood Handled Creamer

An open cream pitcher fitted with a round, carved rosewood handle - a modest table form whose interest lies in the turned wood set against the raised silver body, the contrast Morrill ties to Spratling's affinity for Puiforcat's combining of materials (p. 224). The handle is the piece's one point of elaboration.

It belongs to the first design period at Las Delicias, the workshop through which Spratling led the Taxco silver revival of the 1930s.
