A necklace numbered 5316 belongs to the running inventory of designs Margot de Taxco's workshop kept by number, the mark on the back designating the model and generally climbing as her output grew (Morrill, pp. 15, 168).
Every design was Margot's own, documented in a written book that set out the dies, the color choices for the enamel, and the assembly, her drawings guiding the enamelers (Morrill, p. 168). The necklace is the realized form of that controlled method, enamel on sterling.
Good examples preserve the saturated color of her enamel line.
