Curatorial note

This pyramid cuff pairs silver with gilded silver, using a single applied gilding to warm the repeated pyramid forms that define the design. The geometry is the same architectural motif Spratling worked across his first-period bracelets, and here the contrast between bright silver and gilded surface does the decorative work.

The design was also made entirely in silver, so the gilded version is one finish within a small family built on the same form. That practice of reworking a single design across materials and finishes is typical of the Spratling workshop's first-period output.

The cuff is recorded in Phyllis Goddard's Spratling Silver: A Field Guide, the reference that documents the range of Spratling production and its variants.
