Curatorial note

A plain silver service plate, defined by a one-and-three-quarter-inch rim and a rolled edge, made in various sizes. The restraint is the point: the rolled edge and broad rim carry the design, with no applied ornament to distract from the raised silver surface.

Such plates anchored the table services that extended Spratling's Taxco workshop beyond jewelry into hollowware. The hand fabrication of the Las Delicias shop gives even these unadorned forms their weight and finish.

With no scholarly reference recorded, this is a sparsely documented service form.
